Dear Resident This is to inform you that the Southern Water submission for a Development Consent Order (DCO) for its proposed Hampshire Water Transfer & Water Recycling Project (HWT&WRP) (effluent recycling) is now with the Planning Inspectorate for the Pre-Examination phase. Any interested parties, whether organisations or individuals, can register to have a say and make a relevant representation and this registration has to be done by cop 24th August. The Parish Council will register to have its say and is working with the Water Matters Group based in Havant Borough to develop its initial comments to accompany registration so as to enable us to have a further detailed say during the Examination phase. Registering gives an individual or organisation the right to be kept informed of matters and to submit more detailed evidence and attend meetings or site inspections. It remains the Parish Council’s firm view that this is the wrong solution to address future water shortages, being both costly to consumers over many decades and costly to the coastal environment as well as being very energy intensive every day of the year. Water Matters Group will make a joint submission on behalf of its signatories, which includes RCPC, and we will submit our comments including aspects not covered by WMG. Once the initial submissions are made they will be posted on the Parish Council website for residents to note if you intend to register and you will be advised by Grapevine and a notice on the PC noticeboard in the village. This process is the last opportunity to stop this project and force Southern Water to look at cheaper and better alternatives. We urge residents to consider this matter carefully.
