We have been told that due to a lower uptake the PeCAN scheme has been extended for an extra week. This is a summary of what is available
*We still have about 25 unsold trees so have decided to keep orders open for next week in the hope we can shift the last ones, otherwise PeCAN are loosing a 25% deposit on the trees we don’t buy, but have reserved with the supplier. *
*The trees still available (at the time of writing!) are – *
*1 x cooking apple*
*8 x dessert apple*
*1 x filbert*
*1 x pear*
*15 x plum*
Also here is the information we originally circulated on Grapevine, including the website contact information should you wish to take up their offer.
Rowlands Castle Gardening Club
PeCAN (Petersfield Climate Action) are operating their Fruit Trees for Gardens scheme again this winter, and the website for ordering trees is now active and will remain open until 31 December. petersfieldcan.org/projects/nature-recovery/trees <petersfieldcan.org/projects/nature-recovery/trees> The Gardening Club will be working with Pecan to supply the trees to Rowlands Castle residents on 17 January- collection from the top of Redhill Road (near St. John’s car park) between 10-30 and 11-30. The price has risen this year to £21-50 to include stakes and ties, but this is still a great deal (similar trees would cost £30 to £60 in a nursery). Choose from apple, greengage, pear, plum, cherry, damson, and cobnut. Get your order in early to secure your preferred species!
