It is a delight to see the membership of this excellent pastime progressively grow in numbers: now 34 in total, with 12 – 15 participating regularly.
Such is the enthusiasm that winter months will be embraced by continuing our weekly activity attending the sports hall facility at Havant Academy. Again Tuesdays from 6pm to 7:30pm, starting 6th October.
Rowlands Castle Walking Football (RCWF) is a mixed activity for adults of all abilities and involves refreshments followed by warm-up and playing social walking football involving modified football rules at walking pace, thus ensuring improved safety whilst giving exercise and enjoyment, for the ball is still passed between players and goals are scored.
However for members not wishing to play competitively we also have a Gentle Walking Football version comprising easy physical exercises and ball control for example by passing to each other and dribbling around small cones.
The central theme is not serious competition for one side to win but teamwork, giving enjoyment with mature banter and pleasurable exercise lasting 60 minutes, again at a relatively gentle pace but enough to give a reasonable workout!
