Dear Residents on the Green
Some residents on the Green will have received notification from SGN (Gas Network) about their plan to use the Green as a site compound for the duration of works to replace gas pipes in the area. The plan was to set up a compound on the Green to store plant, welfare facilities (canteen and loos), traffic management equipment and material (lots of pipes I think).
It was pointed out that permission had neither been sought nor obtained from the owner of the Green (the Parish Council) for the works. In addition, the Green is a protected space in the RC Conservation Area and a much-loved key feature of the village. I am pleased to report that the plan has now been abandoned and they have said they will look for a space somewhere else!
