An update to the post yesterday on this subject:
In my eagerness to advertise the vacancy I jumped the gun a little. I am now advising that before we can follow a Co-Option process, we are required to advertise this casual vacancy first for a 14 working day period from today 4th March, where electors can request a by election to fill the vacancy.
Please see the advertisement below which will be posted to noticeboards and uploaded to the website.
Casual Vacancy for a Parish Councillor in the Rowlands Castle ward
1. A vacancy has arisen the above council caused by the resignation of a Councillor.
1. A by-election to fill the vacancy will be held if, within 14 days (not counting a Saturday or Sunday) from 4th March, ten electors for the ward/parish give notice in writing claiming such an election to the Returning Officer.
1. The Address of the Returning Officer is: East Hampshire District Council, Monterey House, Bedford Road, Petersfield, GU32 3LJ
1. If no such notice is given the Parish Council will fill the vacancy by co-option.
