*COMPTON FILM CLUB*
*Tuesday 10th February, **I Swear* Please join us for our screening of *I Swear, * a Scottish comedy-drama based on the life of the Tourette syndrome campaigner, John Davidson, played brilliantly by Robert Aramayo. Davidson was born in Galashiels in 1971 and began exhibiting tics at the age of 10, leading to a tortured adolescence when the condition was barely understood. Also starring Maxine Peake, Shirley Henderson and Peter Mullan the film shows both the hilarity and the frustration of the syndrome and the cruelty and the kindness experienced by sufferers. It is a funny, touching and feel-good film.
‘Sweet, salty and substantial, this charming little jewel might reaffirm your faith in cinema as the realm of beautifully told life stories that get the balance just right.’ *Irish Independent*
‘Charming, funny, and profound, I Swear leaves you smiling through tears.’ *The Sun*
‘With its touching message of empathy, acceptance and kindness, along with excellent performances from Aramayo, Peake and Mullan, I Swear is a hugely important and informative watch – and potentially one of this year’s best British films.’ *Moviemarker*
