On Saturday 5 September, George Hall, manager of The Londis. Rowlands Castle, is climbing onto a static bike at 3am and not getting off until 3pm — twelve hours, aiming for 200km, without leaving the shop. He’s doing it for the CASK Research Foundation, the charity based right here in the village. It was set up by Laura Hattersley after her daughter Sarah, now nine, was diagnosed with an ultra-rare genetic disorder affecting her brain development. Pop in at any point during the day to cheer him on — the shop is open as usual. Laura and Sarah will be there from 2pm for the final kilometres, so if you can only make one moment, make it that one. There is a collection tin and a QR code in the shop, or donate at www.justgiving.com/page/cycling-nowhere-to-get-us-everywhere Twelve hours is a long time on a bike that goes nowhere.
