You are probably already aware that a small group of travellers have moved onto Gypsies Plain, land owned by Portsmouth Water (PW) and part of the wider Havant Thicket Reservoir site. This area is not part of the active construction zone but is an environmentally sensitive location that contains young planting and ecological mitigation features. PW is working in close coordination with the relevant authorities to address the situation. Hampshire Constabulary are aware and have increased patrols in the area. The site continues to be monitored and police are on hand to respond should their support be required. It was understood from discussions between PW and the travellers that the latter were to move on by end of Sunday, however some will remain until Tuesday at the latest. PW will ensure that it is checked and cleaned as required following the travellers departure. There will be a review of security at the gates to determine if extra security measures are required.
