‘SWR have put the details of their proposals on their website (www.southwesternrailway.com/station-change-proposal) About halfway down is the link to the specific train stations affected under “Further information on the proposal including any changes to individual stations can be found in our Station Change Proposal here (PDF, 3.06Mb).”
This is public and can be accessed by anyone interested.’
There was an article on the morning news this morning, regarding The Department of Transport’s (D. of T.) plans to close or alter the number of Ticket Offices that will remain open, following the consultation period.
It is a ‘long’ read, but if this could affect you in any way it is well worth seeing how it could affect your use of the railway from RC?
If like me you find the purchase of tickets from the Machine by the gate, given the multitude of rates for longer journeys getting the best possible prices and travel times etc, what happens if the Machine says ‘No’ or cannot give you the information you need.
Granted the Ticket office is only open Monday to Friday now, then only in the early hours.
But it looks as if the Service is going to be improved, yes, I know ‘Shock’!
The new proposed Days/hours could well be;
CLOSED SUNDAY & MONDAY
OPEN TUESDAY TO FRIDAY 6.00am to 10.00am,
SATURDAY 9.00am to 1.00pm
Giving more opportunities for pre purchasing travel tickets and renewing season ticket etc.
You may still have some concerns as to how long these new arrangements will last! As it seems the D.of. T is on a ‘Cost cutting’ exercise across the Network, so get your responses in before the deadline.
