Communciation from Portsmouth Water On the morning of Monday 11 August 2025, a major new piece of equipment, a long-reach excavator, will be delivered to the reservoir site. This specialist machine weighs approximately 95 tonnes – that’s the same as seven double-decker buses. To make sure the delivery goes smoothly, it will take place outside of peak traffic hours, following approved routes, with escort vehicles for safety. The vehicle will exit the A3(M) at Junction 2 at Horndean, join the B2149 heading south, and then travel down the site’s dedicated access road. There may be some brief disruption as the vehicle turns onto and then off the B2149, and Portsmouth Water will do everything it can to keep this to a minimum.
