Rowlands Castle u3a has about 140 members, who are either in part-time employment or retired. The activities of the u3a include a monthly talk at the Parish Hall, a coffee club, trips, a summer and Christmas party and access to the large number of groups.
One of our groups, the History Group, is looking for a one or two new members. You are welcome to come to a few meetings before you decide if you want to belong to this group or want to join the Rowlands Castle u3a.
The History Group meetings are held in member’s homes and the aim is to have about eight people attend each meeting. The group covers global events from the earliest times to recent post war history. As to subject matter, that may vary from social, political or military actions; famous (or infamous) characters, to the artistic or great exponents of literature or music; if its history, we are interested in hearing a presentation. Our meetings take place on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 10.30 and depending on the length of the presentation last for approx. 1-1.5 hours with a break for refreshments either half way or at the end – there is usually a short group discussion.
If you are interested, just drop me an email and I will put you in touch with the group coordinator who will take it from there. My email address is:-
