This year is the 80th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings. The village played a major role as a ‘jumping off’ point for the landings. The Village Green was a major equipment assembly point and King George Vl addressed the troops before their departure, which is remembered by the King’s Stone on Manor Lodge Road.
Although there are many major celebrations taking place to mark the Operation, if you are unable to attend any of the formal events please feel free to join us in a short flag raising ceremony on the Green at 11:00hrs on Thursday 6th June.
There will be a limited number of official Commemorative Poppy lapel pins available for a donation. I hope to see you there.
