We are delighted to announce that two CRP and Defibrillator training sessions will be held in the Parish Hall on Saturday 9th September between 9am and 10.30am and Friday 29th September between 9am and 10.30am. Peter Morgenroth is our local South Central Ambulance trained Volunteer Community First Responder, and will be running the courses.
The basic life support training is designed to ensure that participants feel confident in recognising cardiac arrest, commencing CPR, and using a public access defibrillator (PAD). With 4 PADs within Rowlands Castle parish, there is the potential to provide good quality CPR and defibrillating which, in the first 3-5 mins of a Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA), can produce a survival rate of 50-75% (Perkins 2015).
Peter, and all other local Community First Responders, are volunteers and their training, equipment and uniforms are NOT funded by the NHS, but from the local South Central Ambulance Charity. Participants will be invited to make a small donation towards the charity so that it can continue to run these vital courses.
There will be 15 places available for each course, and will be available on a first come first served basis. However, if there is the demand, further sessions will be arranged. To book your place, please contact Peter Morgenroth at peter.morgenroth@sca-charity.org.uk<mailto:peter.morgenroth@sca-charity.org.uk>
We would like to thank the Parish Hall Management Committee for allowing Peter to use the Parish Hall free of charge, and to our local District Councillor, Charlene Maines, who has just approved a £600 grant towards replacement batteries for 2 of our defibrillators.
