Heritage Weekend

Dear Friends,
This weekend, Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st September, Rowlands Castle History & Heritage, as part of Heritage Open Days, will be holding a pop-up museum in the Church on the Green, from 12-4pm on both days.
This is very much a family event, with children’s activities included, some new history boards, covering the development of the parish after the railway station was built way back in the late 1850s, some artifacts related to past times, and a selection of Ted Redsull’s extensive archive for you to look through.
The model railway of the village as it was in 1944 during the D-Day build-up, will be up and running on both days, displaying life as it was during that important time in our village history and the country as a whole.
Back in 2016 we raised the money in the village to buy the model from its designer and builder, Pete Goss.
We are delighted to welcome Pete Goss back to the village this weekend. Pete will be giving us a short talk about the model and what came next, at 1pm on Sunday 21st September in the Church on the Green. He will have his book, ‘The (Railway and Military) Model – What happened next’ for sale at a special discounted price.
Also, weather permitting, after the talk on Sunday will be followed by a guided history trail around The Green, one of the village trails developed for mobile phones available on our website.
You are all most welcome to join us to learn more about our village, its history and the model railway. We look forward to see you.
