The Parish Council is looking for enthusiastic members of the community who would like to join its collaborative team of parish councillors, both in the wards of Rowlands Castle and Finchdean. The posts are not party-political.
Would you like to contribute to our work?
The Full Council normally meets at 7pm on the first Monday of each month, though dates may vary in some months because of Bank Holidays and there is no August meeting. Additionally, councillors normally spend around 5 to 8 hours a week fulfilling their role in various ways.
The main roles of the Council are, proactively, to:
* Care for the interests of the Civil Parish and manage its assets such as the Recreation Ground, the Village Green, Rowlands Copse and other open spaces * Identify and implement improvements in the Parish within the powers of the Council. * Comment on planning matters and liaise with local representatives both political and from a variety of organisations that deliver services in some form to residents
The Council is, or will soon be, addressing the following issues as some of our priorities within a wide portfolio of work:
* EHDC’s Local Plan proposals for increased housing within the Parish; * Effective spending of developer’s contributions held by EHDC and HCC; * Lobbying Hampshire Police to actively use data collected from speed cameras to pursue those caught speeding, especially ‘persistent offenders; * Southern Water’s Water Transfer and Water Recycling Project; * Updating the Recreation Ground Entrance and Pavilion; * The impending Local Government Re-organisation.
The Council is supported in its work by the Clerk to the Council, the Administrative Officer, the Facilities Officer and other employees.
