Castle United competed in the Havant Sunday Football League Challenge Cup Final in an exciting game played at Five Heads Road Stadium, Horndean on Sunday 15th April 2012.

The team lost 4-3 against Bluebell in a thrilling Cup Final between two well matched teams that needed a late penalty to decide who would lift the trophy.

Castle took the lead with a stunning right footed 25 yard volley from their captain Perry Groves. However, Bluebell soon equalised and then went into a 3-1 lead halfway through the second half.

Perry Groves then scored again with close range header from a superbly whipped in free kick from the left by his brother Brad and shortly after successfully converted a penalty

to bring the scores level to set up an exciting finish. With the propsect of extra time looming, Bluebell were awarded a penalty in the dying minutes which was duly converted to win the cup for Bluebell.

The League's chairman John Hogg was full of praise for Castle United especially for the way they came back into the game in the second half and awarded Perry with the Match Ball and the man of the match award.
